Alrighty everyone. I finally got proof (in January) about how much Evie gets scared of the Cabbage Patch Doll when it’s in the bath (she plays with it out of the water).  Enjoy!

Star Wars party

Evan’s birthday party was a hit! Even though Annette and I started planning it yesterday, it still worked out smoothly and without much stress! Evan’s friends came over, we took pictures of everyone in the cloak (except Spencer who didn’t want to participate). The kids each had a picture frame that they put star stickers around the border and there was space beneath the photo opening that said “Star Wars” “Jedi Master Spencer” (with each child’s name). While they played ‘asteroid toss’ and did ‘Jedi Training’ (from Master Jedi Joel) I used Photoshop to fix the pictures, putting each “Jedi” on a ship next to Vader (see below). I think they turned out pretty awesome! I was tempted to color Evie green and give her Yoda ears (due to how small she is) but decided against it. Evan opened presents, they had cupcakes and ice cream and then went downstairs to hit balloons with their inflatable light sabers. Then Vader’s march song came on and who just happened to come around the corner? Darth Vader in the flesh! (or Uncle Mikey for the kids who were scared of him). Each child (who opted to) took a turn fighting him and then they all attacked together. Vader ended up going upstairs, with little Jedi’s following behind, and we heard a loud bang. I guess Vader fell and Jedi Evan was very proud of himself! The kids also got little tattoos.  What a fun party!

Thanks Uncle Mikey for being the bad guy, Jay and Brenda for loaning costumes, and Mikey’s co-worker for letting Mikey borrow the Vader mask! It was great!

VALENTINE FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Saw this and loved it! Enjoy!!!!

VALENTINE FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Cabbage always has a heart; Green beans string along.
You’re such a cute tomato, Will you peas to me belong?
You’ve been the apple of my eye, You know how much I care;
So lettuce get together, We’d make a perfect pear.

Now, something’s sure to turnip to prove you can’t be beet;
So, if you carrot all for me let’s let our tulips meet.
Don’t squash my hopes and dreams now, Bee my honey, dear;
Or tears will fill potato’s eyes, While sweet corn lends an ear.

I’ll cauliflower shop and say, Your dreams are parsley mine.
I’ll work and share my celery, So be my valentine.

Thoughts on “My” Prophet

president-hinckley-2.jpg

Gordon Bitner Hinckley died Sunday evening surrounded by his family. What a special moment that must have been…to be standing in the presence of a man who spoke with our Heavenly Father daily, who was guided by His hand to lead us, and to know that he would soon be standing before our loving Father in Heaven, knowing the He was very pleased with all that he accomplished here on earth. I wish I could know what he said to his family before he passed on, but I suppose that’s for his family to know. At least I know that he loved and prayed for each of us every day. Just watching him, listening to him, I could feel his love for us which I know is just a piece of how much love our Father and Savior love us. I’ve felt their love too. And as I sit and think about “my” prophet I can still feel their love.

When I was young I attended church and church activities because it was something I was supposed to do. I never doubted my religion especially since I have parents who live their lives as a testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel on this earth. I do, however, know that I strengthened the little testimony I had as a child through prayer, studying, faith, and through life’s experience and I know that the Gospel is restored in our day, that we have a prophet who guides us and who truly talks with God. I know that without a doubt. President Hinckley is “my” Prophet because he was called of God to be our Prophet when I gained my testimony. The Holy Ghost testifies to me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true church on the earth today and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the restored Gospel and the only way we will be able to return to our Father in Heaven when this life is over. I’m so grateful for that knowledge, for the warmth in my heart and for the many answered prayers that are each a testimony to me.

I know President Hinckley is with his beautiful and loving wife right now. I cannot wait until the day when Steve and I will be reunited in the next life and know that we will be together for eternity because of the covenants we made here on earth.

I WASN’T DONE!

Last night we had Steve’s parents over for dinner.  Afterward, we played games and ate chocolate. Evie, being the kid she is, got extremely messy. I started a bubble bath and put both Spencer and Evie in to play. I walked back and forth between the kitchen and bathroom (every minute) to check on them and see if it was my turn to play yet. Evie got a little fussy because the Cabbage Patch doll was in the water (she’s still scared of it) so I went in to check on her. She decided she wanted out. I put her diaper and pjs on her and she took off to the bathroom again. I watched as she played with the toys while standing on the floor. I went back to the kitchen and next heard Spencer crying. I ran inside to see if he slipped in the water and what did I happen to see?

Not Done Yet

Evie decided she was NOT ready to get out and wanted back in. We all got a good laugh from it…well, maybe not Spencer.

Evie has more teeth coming in! This time it’s her 2nd position, bottom left (or is it right?) side and another molar. Yikes!

Spencer, Evie and Stephen went to Grammer and Grandpa’s house on Saturday to hang out and so Steve could look for a few books. As Spencer tells it “I in kitchen. Jadyn in livn room. I run to livn room. Jadyn run to kitchen. We crash in middle.” What a pretty bruise!

Last night I came home from Springville (Annette’s and spinning class) around 10:00 pm. Both kids fell asleep so after I parked I got Evie unbuckled (she woke up a little bit), had my bag on my left shoulder, Evie on my left hip, keys and phone in my right hand. As I was climbing the stairs in the back, my shoe got caught on a piece of metal sticking out, putting a hole in my shoe and causing me to fall UP the stairs. OUCH! My left shin hit the edge of the step, as well as my left arm (luckily! Evie almost cracked her head on the edge!), I got a huge gouge below my right knee and as I fell I skinned my right palm on the top step (also digging deep scrapes into my phone!). It hurt like…heck! Steve heard me fall and opened the back door. He went to get Spencer from the van while I got cleaned up. I know have 3 bandaids covering my “owies” and bumps and bruises on my legs. I hate stairs sometimes! (Some of you might recall I slipped on Annette’s carpeted stairs about 3 months ago…also holding Evie…and wearing new socks. My bum bruised on that one!)
