Evie is acting like she’s a walking pro now. She saw Mr Potato Head across the room and decided she wanted to walk to it. She took 5 steps and laughed the whole time – I think she knew she was doing something grand! Well, since then she has tried walking more and more. She is getting so good! Here’s a few pics:
During the BYU football home games, they show a video of Cosmo against some bad men…each to be continued at the next home game. Spencer, who is very much into roll playing with whatever he can find (right now, it’s colored pencils…weird, I know). I’m just laughing to myself because he’s talking about a game, a big kick, Cosmo, and then the noises of an action-packed fight. When some of the colored pencils fly off of the couch (Evie is asleep so no worries there), I can only assume the bad guys are getting their butts kicked. I’m trying so hard not to laugh too loudly…but it’s hard not to.
Yesterday Evie took 3 steps while she was hanging out with daddy at Chris and Julie’s apartment. In Relief Society today she took 4 steps! Not too much longer!
So, I took my first Geology test last night and boy, oh boy does my brain hurt! I haven’t had to study like that in over 3 years! I’m so out of practice. I’m enjoying my class but there’s SO MUCH info to go over and understand that it just hurts. I got a 78% but hopefully next time I’ll study over a long period of time and not just for 3 days before the test. PLUS, I should have new books to tempt me as much…I hope.
Well, even if the game had some bad footwork, Evie had a good one. She took her FIRST STEP! Aunt Netty, Aunt Coley, Uncle Mikey and Mommy (me) saw it (daddy was out getting dinner). Hopefully she’ll realize how fun it is to walk and do it again!
During the BYU football game tonight we had to watch what we were saying…not because it was THAT bad of a game (although we could do better) but because Spencer repeats what we say a lot. Steve said “suck” once and Spencer repeated. So, Aunt Netty decided to use “stinky” instead. BYU knocked a Tulsa player out of bounds and Spencer said, “Mommy – they pooped.” I said, “Are they stinky?” Spencer said, “Yeah.” Aunt Netty said, “Okay – Maybe I won’t say ‘stinky’ anymore.” After that Spencer and Lukie said “stinky” over and over again. Made me laugh so hard I teared up. TOO FUNNY!
So I haven’t read in a long time…due to my addiction to digi scrapping. Coley let me borrow (actually, Natalie let me borrow) the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. What a great book! I was addicted from the beginning preface. I finished in 1 day (yes, I’m a stay home mom so I actually have the option to read that much…AND I even did one load of laundry! I know, not much but now that I’m finished with this book and I’m waiting for the next I have time to clean…even though I’d prefer not to!) There are two books to follow…I just have to borrow them once they’re available (and eventually I’ll get my own copies!) SO GOOD!
Isabella Swan’s move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife — between desire and danger. Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

So Steve and I were granted financial aid for school and were thrilled! I’m very excited to back in school. We decided to use some of the leftovers to get a laptop – we chose a Mac. Steve went through UVU (also known as UVSC) and got a student discount. We got a free printer/scanner and then Steve brought home a surprise. He got me a WACOM board for my digi scrapping so I can draw and create my own papers, alpha, etc. I’m so excited! So, that’s our Christmas presents. We’re so excited!
So last weekend I volunteered at UTOSC. I had done a little work with the flyers and t-shirt and had fun doing it. I had a blast at the conference though! Being one of 4 girls around was fun. I even made friends with some of the geeks’ wives who weren’t even there! I had even more fun picking fights since I’m a Window’s user! (I have nothing against Open Source…I use Windows because I’m comfortable with it…but I will be teaching myself a few Open Source programs within the next year). Everyone at the conference was great – volunteers, speakers and attendees. I helped with the check-in, took pictures randomly, and as someone put it – obsessively did head counts in each classroom. I learned a lot from the things I did hear…usually only 2-3 minutes at a time in each room, plus the conversations between the geeks in the hallway (they call themselves geeks so I don’t think I’m being rude). I really had a ton of fun and think it’ll be fun to help next year too. I think I’m now an “adopted geek” because I’ve been asked to help again.
